Aukse Trinkunas

MUSIC TEACHER | MEZZO SOPRANO

Aukse Trinkunas was born in Vilnius, Lithuania, to a family of musicians. Aukse’s music education began at the M K Ciurlionis School of Arts. She obtained a Level 2 Master’s Degree in Choral Conducting and an M A in Opera and Concert Singing as well as Lecturing in Singing from the Lithuanian Academy of Music.

In 1998 Aukse was awarded a bursary by the Committee of International Studies to further her vocal studies with Dr Emma Renzi in South Africa.

​

Her performing career started while still at school. As a member of the Chamber Choir of the Lithuanian Academy of Music and the vocal ensemble Museum Musicum she performed in Russia, Panama, Cuba, Italy, Poland and Finland. She has since given many solo recitals and performances in various Lithuanian cities.

​

In South Africa Aukse participated in various concerts and music productions at  UJ, WITS. UNISA, Pro Musica Theatre, Linder Auditorium, Musaion, Hilton and Wakkerstroom Festivals.

 

Her repertoire includes oratorio works by M. Charpentier, A. Vivaldi, G. F. Handel,

 

J. S. Bach, W. A. Mozart, J. Haydn, C. Saint-Saëns,  J. Brahms, G. Rossini  ,operatic roles such as Carmen from Carmen (Bizet), Anius from La Clemenza di Tito (Mozart), Dorabella from Cosi fan Tutte (Mozart) , Marta from Faust (Gounod), the Sorceress from Dido and Aeneas (Purcell), Niania from Eugen Onegin (Tchaikowsky),La Principessa from Sour Angelica (Puccini), Third Lady in Zauberflöte( Mozart), Prince Orlowsky from operetta Die Fledermaus (Strauss).

 

Aukse is presently teaching singing at Dainfern, St Stithians, Steyn City and Crawford College.
